JOIN THE EARTH DAY CAPYBARA SCAVENGER HUNT!

There are more than 20 colorful cloth capybara on display up and down Monroe Street in honor of Earth Day 2025. Why capybara? Because they are the world's largest rodents, known for their calm demeanor and for living socially in groups for protection and communication.  These fun capybaras are up-cycled from Zoo t-shirts, and will be sold at the Henry Vilas Zoo Party for the Planet on May 3rd to support the Rainforest Alliance.

Pick up an entry form starting on or after April 12 at the Monroe Street Library, 1705 Monroe Street, or Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, 2531 Monroe Street.

Find at least 8 capybara, and you’ll receive a sweet treat when you turn in your form at the Library or Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. You’ll also be entered in a prize drawing to win one of five train/carousel punch cards to use when you visit the Zoo.

The grand prize winner will get a special behind-the-scenes guided walking tour of the Henry Vilas Zoo for up to 12 people. Walking tours are 45-minutes long, and the winner can choose one of three themes: habitat, enrichment, or careers.

• One entry per person, please, ages 2-18. Adults are welcome to help younger kids.

• Find at least 8 capybara in order to be entered in the prize drawing. Feel free to continue on the back of the form.

• One entry per person.

• Contest deadline is Monday, April 28 at 6:00.
